As the firm enters a new phase of growth and leadership transition, they are seeking an Associate Counsel who aligns with their culture of humility, service, and excellence. Compensation:

  • Structured as a 60/40 revenue split, with 60 percent allocated to the Associate Counsel

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of legal matters with a focus on corporate commercial, estate, or real estate law depending on expertise.
  • Handle matters such as incorporations, shareholder agreements, estate planning, probate, commercial leases, restructurings, and real estate transactions from intake to closing.
  • Provide practical, client-focused legal counsel to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Maintain and grow a personal client base while contributing to the firm’s internal referral network.
  • Collaborate with the Principal Partner in firm-level strategic planning, growth initiatives, and potential acquisitions.
  • Execute legal work with minimal supervision, supported by experienced paralegals and administrative staff.
  • Engage with financial institutions, notaries, and outside counsel, demonstrating strong written and verbal communication.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to an inclusive, respectful workplace culture.
  • Offer legal support in files with employment-related elements, such as internal restructurings.
  • Participate in legal writing, publishing, and speaking engagements as part of the firm’s broader thought leadership efforts.

Qualifications:

  • 7 to 10 years of experience in private practice, ideally at a boutique or mid-sized firm.
  • Subject matter expertise in at least one of the firm’s core practice areas.
  • An existing or growing book of business with a collaborative approach to client sharing.
  • Experience managing files independently, including drafting, filing, and client communication.
  • Strong client management and communication skills with a solutions-oriented mindset.
  • A humble and respectful approach to working with all members of the firm.
  • Interest in helping shape the direction and leadership of the firm.
  • Bonus: Experience in litigation or family law is welcome but not required.
