Company Bio:

Our client operates one of the largest luxury hotel properties in Vancouver, offering a blend of exquisite comfort, sophisticated facilities, and exceptional service. Among its many amenities, the hotel boasts a highly-regarded restaurant and a bustling banquets program. They are currently seeking an Executive Sous Chef who will report directly to the Executive Chef and contribute their culinary expertise to continue enhancing the dining experiences at this prestigious property.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Executive Chef in managing the culinary operations of the hotel’s restaurant and busy banquets program.
  • Create innovative and high-quality menus for the restaurant and banquet events, aligning with the hotel’s standards of luxury and excellence.
  • Supervise kitchen staff, ensuring adherence to recipes, preparation methods, and presentation standards.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef in the hiring, training, and development of kitchen staff.
  • Maintain the highest standards of food safety and sanitation in all kitchen operations.
  • Oversee inventory management and procurement of high-quality ingredients.
  • Assist in managing the kitchen budget, optimizing resources, and controlling costs.
  • Address and resolve any kitchen-related issues swiftly and effectively.
  • Represent the kitchen professionally in all interactions with guests, staff, and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the hotel’s management team to align the kitchen’s objectives with the hotel’s goals.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive culinary experience, ideally in a similar role within the luxury hospitality industry.
  • Proficiency in managing high-volume banquet operations.
  • Culinary degree or similar professional culinary certification is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to create a variety of gourmet meals catering to diverse tastes and dietary requirements.
  • Exceptional leadership skills, with a track record of managing and inspiring kitchen teams.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage kitchen-related challenges effectively.
  • Financial acumen, including experience in managing kitchen budgets and cost control.
