Our client is a leading e-commerce company based in Toronto, known for specializing in trading cards. Their platform caters to enthusiasts and collectors, offering a unique blend of traditional and rare items. As they continue to expand, they are currently in search of a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to steer their technological vision and lead their dynamic tech team.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and implement the company’s technology strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Lead the tech team of 20, promoting a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the development and enhancement of the e-commerce platform, ensuring a seamless user experience for both buyers and sellers.
  • Evaluate and integrate new systems and technologies, ensuring they support the company’s growth and market expansion.
  • Monitor and ensure the security, scalability, and stability of all tech systems and platforms.
  • Collaborate closely with other departments, especially marketing and operations, to drive online sales and improve the customer journey.
  • Stay updated on the latest industry trends, competitors, and emerging technologies that can impact the e-commerce landscape.
  • Manage technology budgets, ensuring resources are allocated optimally.
  • Foster partnerships with tech providers, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Drive the recruitment, training, and retention of top tech talent.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a CTO or in a similar leadership role in the e-commerce sector.
  • Profound knowledge of technology landscapes, architectures, and emerging trends.
  • Strong understanding of the trading card industry is an advantage.
  • Exceptional team leadership and management skills.
  • Solid project management skills, with a track record of leading complex tech projects to completion.
  • Ability to think strategically and execute methodically in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
