Company Bio:

Our client is a premier logistics and transportation company situated in Calgary, well-established in facilitating the movement of goods, predominantly within the natural resource industry. Their expertise and deep connections in the sector make them the go-to solution for transportation needs. As part of their strategic growth and commitment to financial excellence, they are seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who will report directly to the CEO.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership to the company’s financial division, ensuring optimal performance, transparency, and integrity in all financial matters.
  • Collaborate with the CEO to develop and implement strategic financial plans aligned with the company’s objectives.
  • Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, financial forecasting, and capital expenditures.
  • Direct financial risk management by setting up and adhering to internal controls.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with banking institutions, investors, and other financial stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, standards, and legislation.
  • Offer insights and guidance on long-term business and financial planning.
  • Analyze complex financial data and provide timely and accurate financial reports to the leadership team.
  • Spearhead initiatives for financial systems’ upgrades and optimizations.
  • Mentor and support the finance team, fostering a culture of growth, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Director of Finance or in a similar financial leadership role, preferably in the logistics and transportation industry.
  • Strong understanding of the natural resource industry and its financial complexities.
  • Ready and eager to advance from a Director of Finance position to the role of CFO.
  • Expertise in risk management, financial forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills with an ability to drive financial strategies.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a relevant field. CPA or similar qualification is highly preferred.
  • Proficient in using financial software and tools.
  • Solid ethical judgment and high levels of integrity.
