A Los Angeles-based trade show and exhibit company known for its success in the modular display market is now expanding into immersive and interactive installations. The company works across industries including entertainment, sports, and retail, and has built a reputation for bold, customized exhibit experiences. With headquarters in El Segundo, they are growing their presence in experiential display technology and need a sharp business development leader to drive that expansion.
The Director of Business Development reports directly to the CEO. This is a ground-floor leadership role with no immediate direct reports, but a mandate to build out the department as the business scales. If you’re a self-starter with a deep understanding of how to penetrate new markets and close deals in competitive sectors, this is your opportunity to shape a growing revenue channel.
Compensation
- $120,000 base salary
- Commission on new business
- 3 weeks vacation

Responsibilities
- Lead strategic business development initiatives across sports, entertainment, and retail sectors.
- Generate and convert leads through outbound outreach, referrals, trade shows, and industry events.
- Develop tailored sales strategies and proposals for immersive and modular exhibit clients.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with the design and production teams to ensure solution alignment.
- Research and pursue emerging trends in experiential marketing and display technology.
- Build relationships with agency partners, brand decision-makers, and key industry contacts.
- Track performance using CRM systems and present forecasts and KPIs to the CEO.
- Prepare and pitch business cases for new product and service investments.
- Support the development of marketing materials and collateral as needed.
- Identify key hires for the business development team and help scale the department strategically.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of business development experience, preferably in experiential, event, or exhibit industries.
- Proven success in securing new business in competitive sectors like entertainment or retail.
- Strong understanding of lead generation, sales cycles, and account management.
- Experience with modular displays or interactive installations is an asset.
- Excellent communication and pitch skills.
- Strong commercial acumen and entrepreneurial mindset.
- Must be based in Los Angeles or willing to relocate.
